We’ve had one amazing summer! We were able to pull it all together due to six factors: Our Donors, Our Volunteers, Our Space, The Bishop, The Board & Staff, and The Missioners. Today we want to take a moment to thank The Bishop!

The Right Reverend R. William Franklin has held up The Jim Eaton Summer Reading Program as the most important ministry of his episcopate, to date. Bishop Bill was a constant source of spiritual and emotional support for the program. The kids knew they were loved by Bishop Bill, who visited daily. He delighted in hearing newly finished book reports read aloud by their authors, and more than once had a book read to him by one of our participants.

Even at Convention, Bishop Bill was game for whatever we asked him to do...

The Bishop held a graduation ceremony at the end of the summer, complete with one of the kid’s favorite books to take home (The Duckling Gets A Cookie?, by Mo Willems)… and some rubber duckies.
